Hello world!

For my first article I have chosen to discuss some of the moral dilemmas that surround the “War on Terror”.  To me it seems like this war is different then any other war we have ever fought before.  For one, there is no clear enemy, instead there are several groups that we are fighting… and it appears that we do not know much about them either. Second, the reasons for which we have invaded their territory remains unclear to me.  This brings me to my moral dilemma, Why are we fighting a war in which we do not have a direct dispute with the enemy, and also have failed to give a proper reason for why we are sending our troops across the world to die???  Now you may say that we invaded Iraq because of September 11.  Let me remind you however that Sadamm Hussein was not responsible for the attack on the World Trade Center, Ossama Bin Laden was.  And immidiately after the attack we invaded Iraq and focused all our man power on capturing Hussein…WHAT HAPPENED TO OSAMMA????!!!     This is why i feel there is a moral dilemma agianst the War on Terror..we had no reason to invade Iraq yet we did anyway…now we are suffering the consequences for our governments wrong doings….I believe that is wrong..we should have never invaded Iraq we should have went after the man who was responsible for the attack.

This is obviously a heavily disputed debate that has caused a lot of controversy and drawn a lot of publicity.  Because there is so much information that is not clear it is hard for me to say what exactly shoudl be done and who was wrong because i do not have all the facts.  I can only base my oppinion on what i know and consequently i can only guess what the cultural relativist would say based upon the same information.

So this is what i think a C.R. would say… they would say that Osamma Bin Laden was wrong for invading the U.S.. Just because he did not like our countrys policies he has no right to take action against us.  He should be tolerant and let us be.  The C.R.  might also say that George Bush was wrong for invading Iraq and going after Saddam Hussein just because he did not agree with how he was runnign his country.  George Bush has no right to tell Hussein how to run Iraq.

I believe the C.R. would be wrong in both instances. First Osamma may have felt he was right for invading America because we have invaded his country first and have attacked his people first.  Not saying that what he did was right..but was it wrong if he invaded us because he felt we had invaded him first..woudlnt we do the saem thing..? So the cultural relativist si wrong because he may have been right in his actions…then again he may have been wrong.

The C.R. is wrong the second time because maybe George Bush did have the right to invade if he thought that Hussein was treating his people inhumanely and that nobody deserved to live that way regardless of what country you live in.  Therefore Hussein was not right just because it was acceptable in his country  he was wrong becaus ei t is wrong to treat people inhumanely.
